‘About THE 10th ANNUAL International Photography Awards
OUR MISSION: To salute the achievements of the world’s finest photographers, to discover new and emerging talent, and to promote the appreciation of photography.
Now celebrating its tenth year, the International Photography Awards conducts an annual competition for professional, non- professional, and student photographers on a global scale, creating one of the most ambitious and comprehensive competitions in the photography world today’
Well done to expedition co-leader, Jason Florio, and award-winning photographer for getting a ‘Honorable Mention’ in this years ‘International Photography Awards‘ in the ‘Culture Category’ – for his portraits of the Tarahumara Indians of Mexico. These were taken whilst he was on assignment for Newsweek
Florio won first place in the ‘People Category’ of the IPA’s in 2010 with his portraits of Gambian chiefs and elders ‘Silafando – a gift to you on behalf of my journey’ – from a series of images he took whilst on our last West Africa expedition ‘A Short Walk in the Gambian Bush – a 930km African odyssey’
We’re really looking forward to getting down to West Africa for our River Gambia Expedition – where we hope Florio will take some equally as engaging photographs of the people who live and work along one of Africa’s last remaining, major, free-flowing rivers – as we canoe and trek – the River Gambia.
If you would like to find out how you can own one of Florio’s limited edition fine art photography prints from the expedition, please check out ‘An Exchange’ or watch Florio on Vimeo, talking about how you can support the expedition and get one of his exclusive prints in return
